Jiapu town lies in the far north of Zhejiang Province, on the southwest bank of Tai Hu, to the north of Yixing of Jiangsu Province, to the east of Suzhou. It is 116 km away from Hangzhou and 180 km from Shanghai, 160 km from Nanjing, and 100 km from both Suzhou and Wuxi. The traffic in Jiapu is convenient, 104 state highway, Xin-Chang railway and Hang-Ning expressway run through the town. The investment environment is ideal, as it is one of the most rapidly developing economies since the reform and opening-up.
The whole area of the town is 69 km2, with a population of 27 000. It abounds with rice, bamboo, red bayberry and tea. “Tai Lake Three Treasures " are white shrimp, silverfish, long-tailed anchovy fish. These products are mainly exported to Southeast of Asia.
There are four major industries; fire-resistant materials, textile, biological medicine, and fine chemicals.
